Gillette Uncut Music Film Series Makes Its World Premiere In Los Angeles
Los Angeles — January 28, 2010 – In anticipation of music’s biggest evening, Gillette [PG] today brought together some of the world’s most popular musicians to launch its highly anticipated Gillette UNCUT music film series at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles. Directed by Danny Clinch, and executive produced by Greenlight Media & Marketing, the documentary short films provide viewers with unprecedented backstage access into the worlds of will.i.am, Tim McGraw, Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and the All-American Rejects featuring Tyson Ritter.
The exclusive event included a World Premiere screening of the Gillette UNCUT films, which feature the stars preparing for performances and revealing not only some of their pre-show rituals, but moments of introspection, self-doubt and re-assurance.
Nominated for six Grammy Awards, the Black Eyed Peas will.i.am said, “Preparation and practice are key ingredients to what I do, whether it’s in front of 100,000 people in concert or 100 kids in a club. From how I look and what I wear, to every single beat that gets played, I do everything I can to eliminate all doubt before hitting the stage.”
Although he could not attend due to his filming schedule, McGraw added, "I take performance very seriously and my preparation for any show is critical. There's a lot that goes into getting ready, whether it's choosing the setlist, checking the sound, and even just getting my look right. I have to stay focused on everything to make sure I'm giving the fans everything I can. I'm excited to share this peek into my preparation in the Gillette UNCUT film directed by my friend Danny Clinch.”
Blink 182’s Hoppus admits in his film, “I’m not a high fashion guy. There are a lot of dudes who can pull off the scruffy look, but I’m not one of them. Every night before I go onstage, I have a moment where I think, ‘Can I pull this off tonight?’” Such sentiments are balanced out by the All-American Rejects’ Ritter, who in his Gillette UNCUT film states confidently, “Early on in our career, I had no sense of style. But now, I convince myself I’m a superhero every single night.”
The special event concluded with Clinch – who has filmed music documentaries and music videos for iconic rock bands including Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Pearl Jam and The Foo Fighters – leading the Gillette UNCUT artists in a Q&A discussion.
“The Gillette UNCUT films show that Gillette has long been a part of the pre-show preparation of these and other music artists, irrespective of genre,” said Steve Fund, Gillette Global Marketing Director.
The Gillette UNCUT campaign is supported by a broadcast television partnership with Fuse TV, the films will begin airing on Friday, January 29. The Gillette UNCUT campaign will be supported by print ads in SPIN featuring the musicians, and online media partnerships with SPIN.com, Pandora.com, Last.FM and YouTube.com.
Each of the films can be found at http://www.shavelikearockstar.com. In addition to the Gillette UNCUT series, Gillette has launched "Shave Like a Rock Star," a series of tongue-in-cheek shaving tutorials featuring the likeness of each artist.

Cracker Barrel and Daily & Vincent Honor Statler Brothers With Exclusive New Release
LEBANON, Tenn. — Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, the reigning IBMA bluegrass Entertainers of the Year, will take another step in honoring the legendary Statler Brothers as they perform several Statler Brothers’ songs during their 2010 tour. Many of these classic songs are featured on the duo’s new release: Dailey and Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers. This twelve-song CD, now available exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® and online at crackerbarrel.com, features new recordings of classic Statler Brothers’ songs and showcases the incredible musical talents of Dailey & Vincent.
“Dailey & Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers features one of the country’s top bluegrass acts performing music that is authentic and loved,” says Cracker Barrel’s Vice President of Marketing, Peter Keiser. “Jamie and Darrin have years of performing and recording experience, and they have earned a great deal of notice as well as a number of significant awards in the short time they have been recording together. This CD honors the Statlers, and gives us all a good idea of what’s to come with Dailey & Vincent.”
With more than 100 performances planned for 2010, Dailey & Vincent will add a special Statler Brothers segment to their concert song list. The songs featured on this exclusive CD are exciting and authentic bluegrass interpretations of 12 Statler Brothers’ classics. The Statler Brothers, one of country music’s most popular groups until they retired in 2002, are pleased that Dailey & Vincent are bringing new sounds to these beloved songs by recording and performing them with such care and dedication.
“Jamie and Darrin have used their magic touch to honor us and our music,” says Statler Don Reid. “This CD is one great tribute from two great friends. Dailey and Vincent - they are what good music and friendship is about today.” The Statler Brothers made an indelible contribution to the American music landscape, from the day they hit the road with Johnny Cash in 1964 until their retirement in 2002. They are one of only six acts to be inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, writing and recording iconic songs about small-town life, love, faith, and days gone by.
For years, Dailey & Vincent have admired the Statler Brothers. In 2008, they were honored to perform at the medallion ceremony marking the Statlers’ official induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame®. On their two previous releases, Dailey & Vincent performed Statler hits like “More Than a Name on a Wall,” “Years Ago” and “There is You.”
Dailey & Vincent are pleased to have this new CD at Cracker Barrel because they, themselves are at Cracker Barrel on a regular basis. Jamie says, “We’re delighted to work with Cracker Barrel on this project because we pull our bus into a Cracker Barrel every weekend; that’s where we have breakfast and lunch.” And Darrin adds, “Bluegrass music is the roots of America, and we think Cracker Barrel is the roots of America, and combining the two is just a perfect match.” And Jamie adds, "From the very first time we started including some Statler Brothers songs in our shows, the audience response was overwhelming. All it took was the first few bars of 'Elizabeth' or 'Do You Know You Are My Sunshine?' and the crowd was out of their seats and singing along. That is a testament to the timeless quality of the Statlers' songs, which is why we're so honored to do this album, and why we think the folks at our shows will love the new Cracker Barrel segment."
Dailey & Vincent have taken the bluegrass world by storm since they launched their career as a duo in 2007. Jamie Dailey was formerly the lead singer and guitarist for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver; until the end of 2007, Darrin Vincent was guitar and mandolin player and harmony vocalist with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. In addition to being named Entertainer of the Year, Dailey & Vincent received 2009 IBMA awards for Vocal Group of the Year and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year, for “On the Other Side.” Their latest success follows an incredible run in 2008 when they took home seven IBMA awards, becoming the first act in the history of the IBMA awards to be named Entertainer of the Year and Emerging Artist in the same year.

Eric Church recently released his widely praised sophomore effort, Carolina. The album debuted at #4 on the country charts and yielded the Top 10 single, “Love Your Love the Most” and the current single, “Hell on the Heart,” which is Top 25 and climbing. Rolling Stone praised the album’s “surging guitars bolstering good-ol’-boy narratives,” and The New York Times declared, “His music puts rock muscle behind honky-tonk and turns ballads into intimate close-ups.” Carolina follows the breakthrough success of Church’s critically acclaimed first effort, Sinners Like Me, which claimed three Top 20 singles and a #1 video. The album earned Church widespread praise from Associated Press, Rolling Stone, People Magazine and The New York Times. Visit www.EricChurch.com for more information.
About Emily West:
Emily West’s rich, distinctive vocals and smart, emotive songs combined with her energetic and engaging stage presence make her hard to ignore, much like the iconic female country artists – Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn – that she’s always looked up to. “Emily West is an original,” explains Keith Urban, who is featured on "Blue Sky," the heartbreaking new single that West co-penned with Gary Burr. The song illustrates the pain from the split of West’s parents after 32 years of marriage. Visit www.myspace.com/emilywest for more information.
