star, Keith Urban.  This song is one of the favorites and one of the best vocals of McBride harmonizing with another vocalist.  "How I Feel" also includes a harmony vocal - this time by Brad Warren [½ of the country duo, The Warren Brothers.]  The Warren Brothers haven't really been able to break out as artists themselves, but they definitely have the songwriter part down.  Brad and Brett [Warren] did a lot of co-writing with McBride on this album as well and it's been said that they were a key part in getting McBride to try her hand at writing.  "How I Feel" has real simple lyrics in the chorus but the song is really intriguing and keeps you coming back for a second listen.

"Everybody Does" is one of the songs that will probably be most relatable for a lot of women.  I actually really like the pop-country vibe that this song portrays and it's another top pick from Waking Up Laughing.  Rachel Proctor [writer of "Where Would You Be" for McBride] co-wrote this song with Dan Demay and Mike Mobley.  She explains, "Dan, Mike and I had already written one song that morning and were headed to lunch when Mike started playing a cool guitar melody and I started singing. The chorus to "Everybody Does" came out of my mouth right then. We didn't change anything. It was meant to be. I don't think we made it to lunch that day. We wrote the song instead and when we finished I said 'this sounds like Martina'."

Some of the material on Waking Up Laughing is quite predictable and even safe for McBride in her songs choices.  But, her vocals are still top notch on whatever song she's singing so it's hard for others in country music to even compare or come close to her vocal range and abilities. Waking Up Laughing is another strong release for McBride... Take a listen to "Tryin' To Find A Reason," "Anyway," "How I Feel" and "Everybody Does."

RACHEL PROCTOR talks about her cut on Waking Up Laughing -- "Everybody Does"

How did it feel to receive word that Martina was going to record "Everybody Does" on her new album - knowing the success that she already had with your song "Where Would You Be?"

It was awesome. Having already had great success with "Where Would You Be?" I was just thrilled and anxious to hear her sing "Everybody Does."

How did the song come about and can you tell us more about that co-writing experience with Dan Demay and Mike Mobley?

Dan, Mike and I had already written one song that morning and we were headed to lunch when Mike started playing a cool guitar melody and I started singing. The chorus to "Everybody Does" came out of my mouth right then. We didn't change anything. It was meant to be.  I don't think we made it to lunch that day. We wrote the song instead and when we finished I said "this sounds like Martina..."

KAREN FAIRCHILD of LITTLE BIG TOWN talks about being on the road with Martina

You've had the opportunity to tour with several great artists including Martina McBride... What is one thing that you've learned the most from being on the road with her?

The professionalism from Martina...  Right now, I'm completely in awe of just her vocal ability and the consistency.  She just never misses anything... Unbelievable.  And, just the business woman that she is, the way that she runs her business out here and the crew that she has assembled together is so talented and so kind and hard-working.  I'm looking forward to getting to know her more.  We've been out here a month and I've already learned a lot.
