May 19, 2005 After Sugarland received a standing ovation for their closing performance at the Academy of Country Music Awards, they were taken to a private event hosted by Luke Lewis, Co-Chairman, Universal Music Group Nashville. Lewis surprised the trio with a presentation of Gold plaques to commemorate RIAA certified sales of more than 500,000 copies of their debut album, Twice The Speed of Life.

Their hit "Baby Girl" is the highest-charting debut single by a country group in 14 years and for the last six weeks Twice The Speed of Life has been in the Top Ten on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.
